What You Need to Know About Invisalign

If you are someone who feels self-conscious about your smile, yet you do not feel comfortable getting braces, Invisalign may be the best option for you. Please continue reading and speak with our experienced New Jersey dental team to learn more about Invisalign and how we can help you through the process.

Do I qualify for Invisalign?

There are various orthodontic issues that can be fixed by Invisalign. Some of the most common dental issues that can be treated by Invisalign are as follows:

  • Crowded teeth
  • Gapped teeth
  • Open bites
  • Overbites
  • Underbites
  • Crossbites

If you have any of the aforementioned dental issues, there is a very good chance that Invisalign may be the best move for you.

What is the Invisalign process like?

If you believe you are ready to receive, and qualify for, Invisalign, you are most likely curious about the process ahead. The first part of the Invisalign process is having your dentist take you through the Invisalign Smile Assessment, wherein your dentist will assess your smile, create a treatment plan, and, from there, show you a preview of how your smile will look once you’ve completed the process in its entirety. (The process generally takes anywhere between 12-18 months.) Once you receive your aligners, you will have to wear them anywhere between 20-22 hours per day for the best, most rapid results. Every six to eight weeks, you will come into our office for a checkup so we can ensure everything is going smoothly.

What are the benefits of choosing Invisalign?

One of the biggest drawbacks of braces, for many people, is their look, as well as their complexity. For example, braces are composed of many different parts, such as wires and brackets, and if you are someone who is no longer of traditional “braces age,” you may not wish to have the visibility associated with traditional braces. Invisalign is inconspicuous, among other things. Some of the additional benefits of Invisalign are as follows:

  • You can still eat all the foods you love since you can easily remove and readjust aligners before and after meals.
  • You can brush and floss as normal–just remove and replace aligners before and after.
  • Invisalign is barely noticeable.
  • You will never have to fix broken wires or brackets.
  • If you are a parent of a child with Invisalign, there are compliance indicators so you can ensure your child is wearing them as much as he or she should be.
  • You will generally achieve your desired smile 50% faster than by using traditional braces
